What Up?

Breaking-News-48x48.png
Every week one student will search for an article about a current event, historical figure, or geographical region. Students may use youtube clips (with my approval) that address one of the above subjects. Students will and write a short summary of the topic the articles addresses, why it is important, and their reaction to the article or reasons why they were interested in reading it. This allows students to research topics of personal, global, or community interest and allows them to learn about the ways in which the Spanish culture has affected and is currently affecting their own culture. Students will post the finished assignment under the “What up?” tab and be graded on completion.

My status
First students will form pairs and pick from a list of experts and their fields. Next, students will find one article about the field they’ve chosen that will act as a guide for the rest of the assignment. Then, students should come up with two to three questions related to the information they’d like to receive. After the questions have been approved, students will choose a time to hold the interview. The interview must be recorded using Audacity software. After the interview students will write a one to two page summary of their findings and post both the summary and recording on their people page and the projects page. This allows students to research topics of personal, global, or community interest using resources produced for native speakers and interview speakers of the target language on historical or current topics of cultural or professional interest. And uses telecommunications to collaborate, publish, and interact with peers, experts, and other audiences.
